What does this Privacy Policy cover?

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose (or in other words – how we process) personal information of users, both online and offline. For EU users – under “personal information” you should understand “personal data”.

How and why do we collect your personal information?

Generally, most of your personal information is not collected by us but only by Google Play Store and Apple Store, where you can find our Application. This goes in particular to your personal identifying information, payment information, device information etc. Therefore, it is strongly advisable for you to check also the privacy notices at Google Play Store Privacy Policy and Apple Store & Privacy.

We collect personal information you provide to us when you scan or otherwise edit your content. Any information you provide when sending your content to us in order to use our Services is entirely voluntary. As described in the Terms and Conditions, you should not use the Services to create, post or distribute any sensitive personal information.

We might collect personal information for our business purposes, namely, to provide and improve our Application and Services. Part of this includes compliance with applicable laws, such as responding to legal requests, enforcing this Privacy Policy and our rights, and protecting others and our Service. We use information for security purposes and to protect against harmful activity. Further, we may use personal information for debugging functionality, auditing interactions, and internal research. Moreover, we may use information as otherwise instructed by you and with your consent.

We use AI for our Services but we do not use any automatic decision making which can harm or otherwise affect your legal rights.

How do we use your personal information?

Except for the content you create on your own by using Scannerly and is stored by us (via our partners, where applicable), we collect the following information for the referenced purposes.

Content Handling

While placing your content on our Application, you can provide any type of content at your own responsibility and subject to the limitations set out in our Terms and Conditions. We do not collect any sensitive personal information and it is your responsibility to make sure your content does not include any information that could result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of any natural persons in the event of a data/security breach.

When you upload content for scanning (such as text, images, or documents) to our Application in order to access, fill out, edit, convert and download it, that content is temporarily stored during the process and used solely for the purposes of our Services. The content will be stored in your account for your convenience. You can always delete/edit the content on your dashboard.

The content you upload to our Application are used solely for the purpose of providing the requested Services. Such content is processed strictly for the execution of the Service you have requested, and is not used for any other purposes by us. As a general rule, we do not use, share, or disclose uploaded content for any reason beyond the scope of delivering the Services you have initiated.

Other (Non-Personal) Information

We may collect public information, aggregate information, de-identified information and/or pseudonymized information. We may collect this information at any time, from public, third party, and other sources. For example, we may share a public review that you posted about us or use aggregate information for our analytics. We may collect and use this information for any business or commercial purposes.

When do we disclose personal information?

As part of our business, we disclose information as follows and for the outlined purposes:

• Company Parties; Merger or Sale: We may share information with affiliated companies or as part of a sale, merger, or acquisition.
• Service Providers and Contractors: We share information with providers (e.g. for payment processing, hosting, support) that allow us to provide our Services. They act as our data processors under GDPR.

How do we use automated technologies?

We use automated technologies solely to collect essential performance data, such as crash reports and diagnostics, to help us maintain and improve the stability and functionality of the app. We do not actively collect personal data beyond what is necessary for crash analysis. Any additional information (e.g., approximate location, device settings) is managed by the app store platforms.

How do we protect and transfer information?

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk.
